History: The Myers Royal Limbertwig apple was named after the Myers family of Cades Cove, Tennessee. This area is now part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The apple probably dates from the late 1800’s to early 1900’s.

Unfortunately, most of the Limbertwig apples history is lost to us. The Limbertwig apple is made up of many Southern varieties that are connected primarily by their unique taste and for some a weeping growth habit. The Limbertwig apples are thought to have originated in the early 1800’s, most likely as seedlings brought by settlers to the Appalachian region.
